Biography
Dr. Abigail Falk is a board-certified interventional radiologist with over 25 years of leadership and clinical experience in vascular and endovascular medicine. A Fellow of both the Society of Interventional Radiology and the American Society of Diagnostic and Interventional Nephrology, she has dedicated her career to advancing care in vascular health, particularly for patients with complex and chronic conditions.
She is the recipient of the prestigious Gerald Beathard Award (2020) for excellence in
dialysis access care and education and has served as a Distinguished Reviewer for
the Journal of Vascular and Interventional Radiology (JVIR) for multiple years. Her
scholarly work includes numerous peer-reviewed publications and presentations at
national conferences.
Dr. Falk currently serves as the Senior Lead Medical Director of Vascular Surgery and Cardiovascular Medicine at Optum Focus Claim Review/UnitedHealth Group, where she manages a national team of medical directors and works at the intersection of clinical care, policy, and innovation. Her extensive background includes clinical practice, research leadership, medical education, and healthcare management, with more than 35 peer-reviewed publications and multiple distinguished reviewer awards. In this role, she leads a multidisciplinary team of medical directors, ensures compliance with CMS guidelines, develops policy-based review processes, and collaborates closely with informatics and clinical partners to improve patient care pathways and claims accuracy.
Dr. Falk’s dedication is deeply personal and professional, and she brings a unique blend of expertise, compassion, and advocacy to the mission of improving outcomes for women and patients living with these often-overlooked conditions.
Motivated by a close family member’s struggle with Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Pelvic Venous Disease and Chronic Pelvic Pain, Dr. Falk is turning her focus to this critically underserved field. She is committed to raising funds for research, improving patient and physician education, and creating accessible resources
for those affected by venous disease, pelvic venous disorders, and associated co-morbidities.
Personal
Dr. Falk enjoys spending time with her family, is a published photographer, an
accomplished chef, and an accomplished athlete. She finds balance through cooking,
open-water swimming, and spending time outdoors.
